Why choose capoeira classes for your kids?

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that fuses dance, music, self-defense and acrobatics. It is energetic and joyful and exposes children to a new language, music, movement and culture. By its nature Capoeira is very playful. The very verb used in Portuguese to do Capoeira is jogar, or to play!

The rhythm of Capoeira is determined by the instruments: berimbau (a one-stringed bow instrument), pandeiro (tambourine) and atabaque (drum). Students learn to play the instruments and sing as well to listen to the rhythms to guide their movements. Because many movements in Capoeira are from the animal kingdom, children love to learn the imitative gestures.

Capoeira Vida kids classes focus on Capoeira movements that encourage physical development, motor coordination and interaction with peers and adults. As many of these movements have Portuguese names it is also an excellent tool for teaching a new language. Capoeira Vida Kids creates a space where children can be playful, animated, graceful and expressive in a safe, fun, and disciplined environment.
